Sunday 11th October, 2-4pm: 'Memory Exchange' CamLETS Social Event  

Val writes “Each person is invited to bring along 1 or 2 ‘Memories'. These might be a photo, or object, or recipe, or song, or scent or ??? Up to you! We'll take turns sharing whatever our ‘Memory' evokes for us. Although the house is very small, the rooms are just right for cosy chats. We could split into separate rooms, if numbers warrant. Suggested fee: 5 Cams per attendee, to be donated to CamLETS Account #1 – all very welcome. Hot/cold drinks & whatever snacks people wish to share will be available.  Contact Viv on 0794 497 2717 if you would like either a lift to this Event, or help coordinating a lift from your area. For my exact address, or with any other questions, kindly RSVP to me by 7th October via either (a) email to valneal@gmail.com or (b) text message to 07765 954161.   My home:  a) is located at CB1 2LS, about halfway between the Grafton & Beehive Centres; b) requires visitors to be able to manage a single step, to enter; c) politely asks visitors to remove their outdoor shoes, on entry;  d) provides a downstairs loo; e) relies on nearby street car parking (pay & display), or the Grafton or Beehive car parks, or the Adam & Eve St car park; f) offers cycle parking on the pavement, or locked to metal ‘hoops’ in the car park at Edward Street / St Matthew’s Street.


Desert Island Poems: Sunday, 18th October at 3pm

Would you enjoy a Sunday afternoon sharing favourite poems with other CamLETS members? This event is a bit like Desert Island Discs, but with poems. Choose your favourite poem to share with the group - perhaps it's one you learned in school or came across years ago and have always loved. If you like, you can share with the group the reason it is special for you.
Send me the name and author of the poem by email in advance and I'll do some research beforehand to provide additional interesting information and context about the poem and the poet. (I am a published poet and I run poetry courses and workshops for adults.) We will spend up to 15 minutes discussing each poem. The event will last between one and two hours (depending on numbers etc) and will take place at my home (just off Histon Road, CB4 3NB). Drinks and biscuits will be included. Cost: 5 Cams per person.
The event will run if we have a minimum of 5 and we can accommodate up to 10, so please let me know by October 8th whether you would like to attend. Please include in your email the title of the poem and name of the author (or you can email this separately later, as long as you confirm your attendance by October 8th). I'll confirm with you on October 9th if we have the numbers to go ahead, and I'll give you the full address then.

CamLETS AGM: Saturday 7th November 2026

The CamLETS AGM will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday 7th November and will be held in Rock Road Library, CB1 7UG. Please put the date in your diaries/on your calendars - we hope to see many of you there. The agenda and details of how to vote by email if you cannot attend in person will be sent out in early October: see details HERE. CamLETS is run by its members and there are many ways you could help. Members of the Core Group get elected at the AGM and new people are very welcome. There is a list of the current Core Group roles on the website at www.cam.letslink.org/members/pages.php?id=13 and the existing Core Group are happy to explain more about the roles and would welcome assistants or people to shadow the role.
